Iran will reject EU nuclear offer

Iran's nuclear programme - Controversy continues
Iran's nuclear programme - Controversy continues

The Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has said any offer drawn up by the EU which included a demand that his government stop what he called its 'peaceful nuclear activities' would not be acceptable.

He was reacting to continuing efforts by three EU countries, France, Britain and Germany, to draw up a list of incentives to offer Iran in exchange for cooperation in ending its work of the enrichment of uranium.

They and the United States believe Iran is using the work to develop nuclear weapons.

Iran insists its aims are peaceful.

EU foreign ministers are meeting tomorrow to discuss the issue.

Earlier, Mr Ahmadinejad said Tehran is prepared to talk to any country except Israel about its nuclear programme, but not under threat of military force.
