PSNI probe separate attacks in NI

Police in Northern Ireland are investigating two separate attacks early this morning in Co Antrim and Derry.

In Ballymena, Co Antrim, the area around the car park of a shop at Garfield Place in the town centre has been sealed off while it is examined.

It is understood a 16-year-old boy was assaulted and is in hospital where his condition is said to be very serious. No further details are known at the moment.

In the Waterside area of Derry, a 25-year-old man was arrested following an attack in which another man, also 25, was wounded.

The PSNI says the victim received three stab wounds in his back.

The attack happened just after midnight at Pennethorn Court in the Glendermot Road area.

Derry church vandalised

Police in Derry are investigating after criminal damage was caused to a church in the city.

Graffiti was daubed on the walls and roof tiles and signs were damaged at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in the Waterside area.

It is believed a number of youths were seen in the area beforehand.
