Leaders of the Orange Order were to be in Dublin today for talks with Dr Martin McAleese, the husband of the President, Mary McAleese.
The Order's Grand Master, Robert Saulters, and Secretary Drew Nelson were part of the delegation that was to meet Dr McAleese.
The Orange Order had said the talks would focus on the interests of its members in the Republic, but the meeting was also being seen as part of an attempt to ease tensions ahead of the marching season.
