The family of Sophie Toscan du Plantier, the French woman who was murdered in west Cork in 1996, has dropped a civil action against journalist Ian Bailey.
Speaking to RTÉ News, Mr Bailey's solicitor, Frank Buttimer, said he was informed yesterday that a notice of discontinuance in the case had been lodged by the family's solicitor.
Mr Buttimer said the family had taken the decision following legal discussions between the two sides.
