Officials in Scotland have said tests on nine birds for bird flu have proved negative.
The tests were carried out two days after the first strain of the deadly H5N1 strain was confirmed in Fife. More birds are being tested.
Laboratory tests on six other bird carcasses found in the River Bann in Northern Ireland also tested negative last night.
In Ireland, the Department of Agriculture has said that an average of three birds have been tested every day so far this year for bird flu.
The first case of the deadly strain confirmed in Scotland two days ago has resulted in a flood of calls to the department helpline set up to accept reports of dead birds.
The Minister for Agriculture, Mary Coughlan, has said she has no immediate plans to introduce additional measures to combat bird flu.
The minister made the decision after yesterday's meeting of the senior advisory committee on bird flu which concluded that the case in Scotland represented only a marginal increase to Ireland.
