The creditors' meeting of Wedding Dress Bridal Stores in Cork has concluded with the appointment of a liquidator to wind up the company.
Over 300 people attended this morning's heated and angry meeting. They were told that the owner of the bridal shop has debts in excess of €1m.
In a statement read by Judith Linehan's solicitor, Eugene Carey, she said she deeply regretted the unforeseen closure of her shops. She said she both emotionally and financially shared their loss.
The packed meeting was told that she has 'no assets to speak of' and owes money to over 341 creditors.
They include the Revenue Commissioners, banks, bridal dress suppliers and over 180 brides who paid as much as €5,000 each for their dresses.
Several brides left the meeting before it ended, when they heard that they had no chance whatsoever of recouping their losses.
The stores in Cork and Kenmare closed suddenly last month, leaving brides in debt and without their dresses.
Gerard O'Mahony from Midleton was appointed liquidator.
