£500,000 in crime assets frozen in North

Assets worth £500,000 belonging to two brothers have been frozen in a new crackdown on alleged VAT fraud in the building trade in Northern Ireland.

A receiver took control of five homes, three cars and cash belonging to Marcus and Rodney Boreland from Ballymoney in Co Antrim.

The Assets Recovery Agency alleged the pair used their building contracting businesses to evade tax payments.

They are also suspected of loan sharking and drug smuggling.
