The funeral service has taken place in Dublin of Farah Swaleh Noor, the 38-year-old man whose dismembered body was recovered from the Royal Canal almost a year ago.
Around 40 of Mr Noor's friends attended a service, along with a number of gardaí involved in the ongoing investigation into the killing.
Mr Noor, who was originally from Kenya, was laid to rest at Glasnevin Cemetery.
Early this morning, friends of Mr Noor gathered at Stafford’s Funeral Home at Dublin's North Strand for a prayer service.
It was the wish of Mr Noor's family that he be buried on a Friday following Muslim prayers.
He had lived in Ireland since 1999.
When his dismembered body was found at two sections of water near Ballybough Bridge last year, it took a number of months before he was initially identified through DNA testing with a son.
Despite extensive searches by gardaí over the last 12 months, Mr Noor's head has not yet been found.
Two women are currently before the courts charged with murdering Mr Noor.
