The number of complaints to a national hotline set up to combat child pornography has more than doubled over the last two and a half years.
A report published today by the Internet Service Providers Association of Ireland shows that more than 5,000 complaints were made in the 30-month period to December 2005.
The vast majority of the complaints were suspected to relate to child pornography.
Following investigation, the association found that 17% of complaints related to child pornography, compared to around 10% in 2003.
The association also revealed that all of the online child pornography was located or sent from other countries.
