US Vice-President Dick Cheney accidentally shot a man while hunting in south Texas, US media reported today.
The man, identified as Harry Whittington, 78, was reported to be in good condition in hospital after being hit while hunting quail with the vice-president.
Mr Whittington is said to be 'alert and doing fine'. A spokesperson for Mr Cheney said Mr Cheney turned to shoot a bird and accidently hit Mr Whittington.
Local police are investigating the incident.
