The parents of the late Robert Holohan have expressed their sincere appreciation to the thousands of people who supported them in what they described today as a 'horrific year'.
In an acknowledgment in today's Irish Examiner marking the first anniversary of the death of their son, Mark and Majella Holohan said they especially wanted to thank the thousands who came out and searched in all kinds of weather for their little boy.
The couple also thanked all the voluntary organisations, businesses, and schools, along with their friends, family and the clergy for their support throughout the past 12 months.
They specially thanked the gardaí for ensuring their 'little boy's body' was returned to them and for giving them tremendous support.
A memorial mass for Robert Holohan is to take place next Sunday at midday in the Most Holy Rosary Church in Midleton in Co Cork.
Wayne O'Donoghue, who pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of the 11-year-old, is due to be sentenced later this month.
