The series of arrests carried out by the PSNI in connection with last December's Northern Bank robbery continued this morning with a police operation in west Belfast.
A 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested. Police spent the morning carrying out searches at a premises in the Poleglass area and removed a number of items for examination.
It is understood the male arrested is Christopher Ward who worked as a bank official in the Northern Bank at the time of the raid. Neither of the two individuals has been charged with any offence.
They are assisting police with their inquiries. Mr Ward was held captive by an armed gang while the robbery took place.
Prior to today’s police operation eight individuals had been arrested by detectives investigating the theft.
A Co Down man was charged with the robbery itself and the false imprisonment of a second bank official and his wife in Co Down. Two others face lesser charges arising out of the investigation.
