Gardaí investigating the unsolved killings of three women whose bodies were found buried in counties Dublin and Laois in the late 1980s and early 90s have issued a fresh appeal for the public's help in solving the crimes.
Thousands of leaflets are to be distributed and substantial cash rewards are also being offered for information leading to the killer or killers, in each case, being identified.
For nine months, Antoinette Smith was classified as a missing person. She was last seen in July 1987 in Dublin after attending a concert in Slane. In April 1988, her body was found buried in the Dublin Mountains.
In June 1992, the body of Patricia Doherty from Tallaght was also found buried in the Dublin Mountains. The mother of two had vanished the previous December.
Shortly before Christmas 1993, 34-year-old Marie Kilmartin disappeared from Portlaoise. Her body was found six months later in bogland near Mountmellick.
All three killings remain unsolved but they are now being re-examined in light of advances in DNA technology and specialised database analysing information on violent crimes.
The Crimestoppers group is offering rewards of up to €10,000 in each case.
Both gardaí and the families of the victims are urging anyone with information or suspicions to call in confidence on 1800 25 00 25.
