The Chairman of the Morris Tribunal has warned a key witness that his assets could be sequestered and he could be jailed if he continues to refuse to co-operate with the tribunal.
Hugh Diver, who was arrested by gardaí investigating the discovery of an explosive device on a telecommunications mast nine years ago, refused to give evidence to the tribunal today.
He told Mr Justice Morris that it was not a true or thorough investigation and that the tribunal was trying to ‘make scapegoats of a few gardaí in Donegal and let the ones at the top away’.
Mr Driver was asked to consider his position and return tomorrow.
