Gardai investigating the death of a man whose body was found yesterday near the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre in west Dublin have arrested a 17-year-old.

He was detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act and can be held for questioning for up to 12 hours.

He is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station.

The body was found between bushes and a wall near a slip road on to the M50. Gardaí believe the man, who is thought to have been in his 20s, died following a row.

Investigating officers from Lucan station suspect they know the identity of the deceased but do not yet have a positive identification and may have to rely on dental or fingerprint records.

There were no visible injuries on the deceased and a post mortem was due to be carried out this afternoon by the State Pathologist, Marie Cassidy.
