Hauliers from the northeast staged a protest in Dublin city earlier today to protest against high fuel prices.

The hauliers had driven down the M1 motorway from Ardee in Co Louth.

They say they want the Government to reduce the tax take from the overall price of diesel fuel to reduce their costs.

A spokesperson for the hauliers said they were facing a bleak future unless action is taken.

Gardaí said traffic disruption was minimal during the protest.
