Four protestors arrested at Shannon airport

Four anti-war protestors have been arrested at Shannon airport after they occupied a balcony area and refused access to members of the airport police.

The three men and one woman are being held in Shannon garda station.

According to gardaí, the protestors entered the cafe area of the terminal at Shannon airport carrying banners featuring anti-war slogans at about 3.30pm.

They then moved out onto a smoking balcony overlooking the main road, where they continued their protest.

Airport police were prevented by the protestors from entering the balcony and gardaí were called.

The four were arrested and taken to Shannon garda station.
