The Minister for Justice has been outlining his proposals for anti-social behaviour orders in the Criminal Justice Bill.

Michael McDowell told the Oireachtas Justice Committee that the measure would be similar to the existing power to bind offenders to keep the peace.

The minister said that individuals would be bound for two years by the proposed ASBO provision, and that those who breached an order would face up to six months in prison.
