Police Commissioner - Calls for resignation
Police Commissioner - Calls for resignation

The British Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, has said he has full confidence in the head of London's Metropolitan Police.

Mr Prescott stressed the need to wait for the Independent Police
Complaints Commission report into the shooting.

There had been calls for Sir Ian Blair to resign for his handling of the killing of a Brazilian man who police mistook for a suicide bomber.

On the day of the shooting, Mr Blair said it had been directly linked to an anti-terrorist operation.

He has now said that it was 24 hours before he learned that the victim, Jean Charles de Menezes, was innocent.
