A protestor in Japan has been arrested after vandalising a memorial commemorating the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima 60 years ago.
The man, who gave himself up to police, partially chiselled out an inscription on the monument.
27-year-old Takeo Shimazu said Japan should not make an apology on its own memorial for the death of Japanese citizens in the bombing.
Mayor of Hiroshima, Tadatoshi Akiba, said the vandalism of the monument desecrates the souls of atomic bomb victims.
