The remains of the Waterford girl who was killed in a bomb attack in Turkey on Saturday have been taken to Cork University Hospital.
The plane carrying the remains of Tara Whelan landed at Cork Airport just before 8pm this evening.
A post mortem examination of the body will take place later.
The 17-year-old student was one of five people who died in the explosion on a minibus in the resort of Kusadasi.
The bombing has been blamed on Kurdish separatists.
Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School in Waterford, where Tara took her Leaving Certificate examinations last month, opened today to allow staff and students to pay their respects to her.
The Department of Education was expected to make contact with the school regarding the provision of a counselling service for students.
Two of Tara's fellow sixth-year students were with her on holiday but were not on the bus on which Tara lost her life.
Those friends are now at home in Waterford and are being comforted by friends and family.
Pupils at the Mercy Secondary are deeply shaken. Psychologists will be on hand to provide assistance in the longer term.
Throughout yesterday neighbours and friends visited Tara's family in the village of Kilmeadan, offering support to her parents, Tony and Frances, and her two brothers and two sisters.
Tara was the youngest in the family. She was due to get her Leaving Certificate results in just a few weeks' time.
