Two Chinese men arrested after the stabbing of two gardaí in north Dublin on Wednesday night have appeared before the city's district court.
Detective Sergeant Paul Scott said that 23-year-old Xiang Cheng was arrested at 6pm last night and charged at 8.45pm under Section 4 of the Theft Act.
The accused made no application for bail.
Detective Sergeant Gary Kelly of Howth Garda Station said 24-year-old Qian Cheng was charged just after 7pm last night.
The charges relate to theft and the Immigration Act. He said the accused made no comment when charged.
The two were remanded in custody to appear before Clover Hill District Court on 22 July.
The two gardaí had visited a house in Raheny on Wednesday night after a call reporting a robbery.
In an ensuing confrontation, the two officers suffered stab wounds.
