The Minister for Communications, Noel Dempsey, has announced the appointment and composition of the new RTÉ Authority.
It will be chaired by Fintan Drury, who is chairman of Platinum, a sports, sponsorship and event management agency.
The other members are
* Maria Killian, a consultant human resources manager
* Patricia King, a SIPTU regional secretary
* Ian Malcolm, a PhD student and journalist
* Patrick Marron, a retired businessman and former member of the Authority
* Una Ní Chonaire, who will represent young people
* Stephen O'Byrnes, a public affairs consultant and former member of the Authority
The new authority will hold office for a period not exceeding three years.
An election is to be be held among RTÉ employees in the near future to select their representative on the authority.
