The US military has said that its forces have killed up to 20 suspected rebels in an air strike in Afghanistan.
In a statement, it said the strike was launched after a US patrol came under attack from rebels in the southern province of Helmand and called for air support.
The fighting comes amid an upsurge of attacks by militants in the area in recent months.
