Trouble broke out in north Belfast tonight when Orange bands and their supporters were attacked with bottles and stones as they made their way home from the city centre.
The violence took place as they passed the nationalist Ardoyne area.
Some local residents became involved in fighting with the Orangemen and the PSNI used a water cannon in an effort to disperse the crowds.
The problems continued for half an hour but the area is now calm.
The main parade by three orange lodges and three bands passed off without major incident, although some missiles were thrown by nationalist protestors.
The trouble began about half an hour later. Stones and bottles were thrown at the PSNI by the protestors and a water canon was brought in to disperse them.
This was happening while police escorted a group of supporters of the orangemen, including women and children, along a footpath opposite the Ardoyne shops.
Missiles were also thrown at them and some received minor injuries.
Sinn Féin claimed police used excessive force against nationalist residents along the route, some of whom were injured.
Six petrol bombs were thrown at police and one policeman was injured during the confrontation.
