There have been calls for the Government to purchase a surrender note handwritten by the revolutionary leader, Padraig Pearse, during the 1916 Easter Rising.
The note, which is being valued at up to €80,000, is due to be auctioned next Wednesday.
Mr Pearse was executed with 14 other rebel leaders after the rising was put down.
James O'Halloran of James Adams & Sons Auctioneers says there has been a lot of interest in the surrender document from international buyers, particularly in the United States.
