A man who was being questioned in Britain in connection with the murder of 16-year-old Mary-Ann Leneghan has been released on police bail.
Mary-Ann’s body was found in a park in Reading in Berkshire early on Saturday morning. She had been abducted the previous night, tortured, stabbed and left there to die.
An 18-year-old girl who was with her managed to crawl half a mile to raise the alarm.
Mary-Ann - whose father, Bertie Leneghan, is from Co Mayo - had been with friends in a car outside a disused pub in Reading when, it is believed, they were approached and abducted by several men.
They were taken to a local guesthouse where they were assaulted for several hours. They were then driven to the park where Mary-Ann was fatally stabbed once in the neck.
Her friend who survived the ordeal was shot and stabbed.
Police are offering a £10,000 reward for information and will be interviewing Maryann's friend in hospital.
