The relatives of the so-called 'disappeared' - men and women kidnapped and murdered by the IRA and the INLA - have called for an overhaul of the Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains.
The commission was set up six years ago to act as a conduit to receive information from the IRA about the burial sites of their victims and to pass that on to the families and the police forces.
Today, a number of families of the disappeared met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dermot Ahern, in Dundalk.
Among the issues raised by the families were overhauling the commission by appointing new staff, and changing the legislation to allow anyone with information on the disappearance of Gareth O'Connor in 2003 to pass it on without fear of prosecution.
