A man is to be charged with the murder of 29 people in the Omagh bomb attack in 1998.

It is understood the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Belfast has given police the go-ahead after a new investigation which involved a review of all the forensic evidence by an international panel of scientists.

Papers outlining details of the charges are due to be served later this month on a 35-year-old south Armagh man.

He has already been in custody for over a year on other paramilitary-related charges.

Three months ago a 34-year-old-man with a Dundalk address was charged with providing a car used in the bombing.
