Two men have been brought before a special sitting of the District Court in Cork, charged in connection with the false imprisonment of a couple at their home.
Gerard Clarke, 37, from Upper John Street, Cork and Edward Gaffey, 33, from Dundalk, Co Louth are each facing four charges.
Both men were remanded in custody until tomorrow morning.
Gardaí are continuing to detain a third man.
Katie and Gary O'Donovan were held at gunpoint for five hours at their home at Mount Oval Village, Rochestown.
Cork Auctioneer Dominic Daly said the family had received many calls of concern and said it goes without saying he is relieved that everyone is safe and sound.
He said he would not wish what happened on anyone, and hoped it would never happen again.
Mr Daly said underlying many of the calls of concern was an exasperation that attacks like this are widespread and tolerated.
'It was extremely sad that something like this could happen' but he added, 'the outcome was great and it is his sincere hope that it will now be brought to its proper conclusion'.
The family returned to their Rochestown home last night. A family spokesperson said they are doing well and trying to get back to normal.
