Gardaí investigating the murder of a man on the Dublin/Meath border early this morning have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Andrew Glennon, 30, from Fortlawn Drive in Clonsilla, was sitting in his car when four men approached and shot him in the head and upper body.

The shooting happened at Huntstown Wood near Blanchardstown in the north-western outskirts of Dublin at around 4am this morning.

An off-duty garda gave chase to the men but they escaped on foot.

Mr Glennon, a suspected drug dealer, was taken to the James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he died at 5.30am.

Detectives believe people leaving a house party in the area may have seen the shooting.
