14 held in FBI mafia probe in Chicago

The FBI in Chicago has arrested 14 alleged mafia members in one of the city's biggest ever crackdowns on organised crime.

The 41-page indictment details decades of criminal activity including murder, extortion, bribery, intimidation and controlling trade unions.

Two former police officers were among those indicted.

A senior FBI officer said the arrests had made a significant impact on organised crime in the region.
