Gardaí in Athlone are investigating the burning out of two luxury cruisers on the River Shannon early this morning.
The boats were burned in an overnight attack by vandals.
The cruisers were berthed near the site of the former Jolly Mariner Marina at Coosan. The blaze happened at about 5am.
Garda forensic experts have been called to the scene and council officials have taken steps to try and minimise pollution to the river.
