A week after the body of a young woman was found in a burned out caravan in Co Clare, gardaí have said they are now treating her death as suspicious.
The woman has been named as 23-year-old Emer O'Loughlin, a native of Enistymon, who was a student of art at the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology in Galway.
Her body was discovered in the caravan in a field at Ballybornagh, near Tubber in north Clare on Friday of last week.
She had been living in the area for some time.
Gardaí say her body was positively identified today following DNA tests carried out at the Forensic Science Laboratory at Garda Headquarters in Dublin.
An initial post mortem examination carried out at University College Hospital in Galway failed to establish the cause of death and the gardaí say further forensic and technical examinations are continuing.
This evening, Superintendent Paul Moclaire, who is heading the investigation, appealed to anybody who might have any information that may help to come forward.
