Two men charged in connection with the shooting of a Dublin publican who had to have his leg amputated were served with indictments today.

A circuit court judge had threatened to strike out the case because of delays in serving the men with the details of the charges.

Frank Ward, 51, from Tallaght and Larry Cummins, 54, from the north inner city had been charged with robbing and assaulting Charlie Chawke at his public house, The Goat, in Dundrum in October 2003.

The men were previously discharged because of delays in serving the indictments but were subsequently rearrested.

Today, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court was told that a judicial review of the case would be heard in the High Court on 26 April.

Judge Desmond Hogan remanded the defendants in custody to appear again on 3 May.
