Gardaí investigating the murder of 30-year-old mother of two, Rachel O'Reilly, have arrested a 35-year-old man in Dublin.

It is understood he was detained in the Crumlin area of the city at around 7am this morning.

He is being questioned about withholding information under Section Nine of the Offences Against The State Act at Balbriggan Garda Station.

He can be held for up to 72 hours.

Mrs O'Reilly was found dead in the bedroom of her house at The Naul in north Dublin on 4 October last year.

A post-mortem examination found she was bludgeoned to death with a blunt instrument.

Last year two men and a woman who were arrested in connection with her death were later released without charge.
