The Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, has announced that he is establishing a new Commission for the Support of Victims of Crime.
It follows a review of existing support provisions for victims of crime.
The commission's remit will be to devise an appropriate support framework for victims of crime into the future, and to disburse funding for victim support measures.
Its term of office will be for three years.
