The Criminal Assets Bureau has indicated it will target property developers who were found to have bribed politicians by the planning tribunal.
CAB has seized or frozen assets from criminals in excess of €130m, which includes money retrieved from social welfare and revenue fraud.
Speaking on RTÉ radio, the head of the bureau, Chief Superintendent Felix McKenna, said a special unit is likely to be set up to examine the assets of some developers.
Meanwhile, Mr McKenna said the bureau has seized large amounts of money in operations in the border area.
He said paramilitaries use the bureau de changes along the border as an unlicensed banking system.
