The US Ambassador to Ireland, James C Kenny, has said legislation to deal with Irish immigrants living illegally in the US may be finalised this year.
Speaking on RTÉ Radio’s News At One programme, Ambassador Kenny said the legislation would help many but not all Irish living illegally in the United States.
The new measures may include the payment of a fine or admission of wrongdoing by illegal immigrants, according to the US Ambassador.
