Gardaí investigating the murder of Sean Duffy at his home near Dungloe in Co Donegal at the weekend are carrying out a forensic examination on a taxi.

They have also confirmed that a crossbow was one of the weapons used to kill him, while it is believed that a weapon similar to an axe may also have been used.

Forensic examinations and searches continued at Mr Duffy's house in Meenacross today.

Mr Duffy's body was found in his home on Saturday afternoon and following a post mortem yesterday evening gardaí launched a full murder inquiry.

An investigation team of about 45 detectives is being led by Chief Supt Noel White.

Teams of gardaí have been searching the area around Mr Duffy's home, and house-to-house inquiries have also being carried out as gardaí try to build a profile of his last movements.

They have appealed to anyone who saw Mr Duffy on Friday night, either when he was in the Strand View Bar in Maghery or later on, to contact them.

They also urged any taxi drivers working in the Dungloe area that night to come forward.

Chief Supt White said the people of Dungloe had been very co-operative so far and he imagined they would continue to be so, not wanting such a person in their community.
