Three people have been killed in a gun battle just outside Kuwait City.
It is reported that a policeman, a suspected militant and a civilian were killed during a raid on a suspected Islamic militant hideout.
One suspect is reported to have been arrested.
Witnesses said police fired rocket-propelled grenades and used machine guns at two buildings they had surrounded, near a US military base.
The incident follows a recent surge in violence linked to al-Qaeda in Kuwait.
