Conlon's relatives meet with Taoiseach

Relatives of the late Guiseppe Conlon today met the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, as part of their campaign to secure an apology from the British government.

Mr Conlon died in prison in England in January 1980 after a wrongful conviction for involvement in the 1970's IRA bombing campaign.

His relatives were joined by SDLP leader Mark Durkan and Jim Sheridan, who directed the 1993 Oscar-nominated movie In The Name Of The Father, which featured the miscarriage of justice against Mr Conlon.

Afterwards, Mr Durkan said that Mr Ahern assured them he would raise the issue with the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, at Downing Street on Tuesday.
