Two men have been arrested following the discovery of a pipe bomb placed under a van in a residential area in Coolock in Dublin early today. The device was taken away by army bomb experts for further examination.
The alarm was raised when a suspect device was discovered underneath a van parked outside a house at Belcamp Crescent.
A number of homes were evacuated until the all clear was given.
The men were arrested in the vicinity of the incident and are now being held at Coolock and Santry Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
Gardaí confirmed that the two are being questioned about Continuity IRA activities.
