High winds and heavy rain have been hampering the search for the missing 11-year-old boy, Robert Holohan, in Co Cork.
About 500 people have been taking part in the operation around Midleton in east Cork on the third full day of the search.
The army, civil defence, search and rescue and specialist garda units are all participating in the search effort.
Gardaí had appealed for those who took part in the search yesterday to return today.
Robert has not been seen since Tuesday afternoon.
