Security forces in Saudi Arabia say they have shot dead seven people, who they describe as militants, in the capital, Riyadh.
The killings took place during a raid on a house in the north of the city.
Earlier, two car bombs exploded close to government buildings in the capital, killing at least one person and injuring four others.
The targets were the Interior Ministry and a base used by special security forces.
The attacks took place two weeks after an audiotape said to have been recorded by the al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden, called on his supporters to rise up against the Saudi authorities.
