President Mary McAleese will travel to the Liberian capital, Monrovia, next week to visit Irish peacekeepers serving in the country.
The President will visit Camp Clara on Tuesday and meet members of the Irish battalion.
After laying a wreath at the camp's UN memorial, Mrs McAleese will have lunch with the troops and present Christmas cards to the soldiers from their families in Ireland.
She will be accompanied by her husband, Dr Martin McAleese, the Minister for Defence, Willie O'Dea, and the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Jim Sreenan.
As part of her visit to Liberia, Mrs McAleese will also meet with representatives of Concern, Trócaire, the Irish Red Cross and UNICEF, who are involved in humanitarian aid efforts in the region.
