His body was found in the early hours of this morning at his parish house at Matasia, Ngong, about 25km from the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
Father Hannon has been in Kenya since 1994, and was based in Matasia for the past four years.
He previously worked at St Monica's Parish, Kitengela, also in the Ngong diocese, and at St Joseph's Parish, Jericho, in the archdiocese of Nairobi.
He was ordained a priest on 18 December 1967. From 1968 until 1993 he ministered in the archdiocese of Lagos, Nigeria, where he opened and developed parish centres in the growing suburbs of the city.
