New research shows that more than 30,000 children in Northern Ireland are living in severe poverty.
The research, carried out by the charity Save the Children, says the figure amounts to 8% of the total child population in the North.
The researchers say one in seven children do not eat three daily meals while around one in four live in homes that do not have gas or electricity.
Half of them live with a lone parent and almost a quarter live in large families with more than four children.
