The eighteen-year-old arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 43-year-old man in Co Mayo today has been released without charge.

A file is being sent to the DPP. Another man in his 50s remains in custody.

It is understood the dead man was challenged by a farmer as he approached a farmhouse in Cross, in south Mayo, around 2.20pm this afternoon.

A wide area around the farm was sealed off pending an investigation by the State Pathologist.
