The Government has announced it plans to improve parental leave provisions.
The Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Willie O'Dea, said the existing provisions will be improved in a new bill to be drafted shortly and published by the end of the year.
The bill will allow parents break up their 14-week leave entitlement to care for their children.
It will also raise the maximum age of the eligible child from five to eight years.
